Delphi’s award-winning and interactive Canal Museum is open for the season! Visit Wabash & Erie Canal Park on weekdays 1-4PM to experience Indiana history and have fun at the same time.
This immersive museum invites visitors to engage their senses as they learn how the Wabash & Erie Canal transformed Indiana in the 1800s. The visit begins with a look at Indiana’s early settlement and infrastructure, progressing through canal construction and operation all the way to its closure and the supremacy of railroads.
Exhibits are colorful and designed for children (and for kids at heart). There is an optional video guided tour, or you can take it all in at your own pace.
After your stroll through the museum, you can also enjoy the natural beauty and wonder of the only remaining navigable segment of the Wabash & Erie Canal in Indiana. Canal Park offers dozens of engaging interpretive panels along with miles of historic trails, open dawn to dusk daily.
Starting in April, the museum will also be open on Saturdays 1-4PM. If you’re looking for the full canal experience with a boat ride and visits to the Pioneer Village log cabins, visit Wabash & Erie Canal Park any Saturday afternoon 1-4PM starting May 25.
